Dirty Little Funk
Formed by 3 young, talented musicians from the Scottish Borders in early 2015, Dirty Little Funk are an explosive power trio with a talent for putting a super-tight, imaginative twist on classic blues/rock covers. Currently working on original material also.
Loan Head consistently rock classic covers at the highest possible level of musical ability, talent and entertainment value. Without a word of exaggeration their performances are always at least as good as, and usually better than the original. From the Blues Rock n Pop classics of the 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond. Cream, The Who, Kinks, Beatles, Jam, Clash, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, R.E.M., Stone Roses, Elvis Costello, Rory Gallagher, Spooky Tooth. And more again. The effect on audiences is remarkable. Introspective Czech exchange students converted to stripped-to-the-waist writhing air guitarists glowing with a post-Woodstockian aura. Mature Busby dinner ladies manning the dancing poles.
Every song is always a rollicking winner, featuring the legendary genius of rock and blues, lead guitarist Jim Keilt; each solo is a tour de force, from sensitive mellow reflection to searingly majestic exploration of every square inch of the fret board; always new, fresh, original - even the pinched harmonics. JK is a King of Blues Rockers whose self-belief is only surpassed by his immense virtuoso talent. And his good looks he would like added.
The other half of the frontline reveals the note-perfect, lung-bursting, jugular vein bulging, vocal immenseness, and power-house driving bass of Martin Jenkins. Forget the TV show because he is The Voice.
Behind them providing the granite-hard rock-steady foundation is the high-energy, polyrhythmic, independently four-limbed, pulsating engine room of drummers Craig Hadden (recordings) and Mark Brown (live gigs), and their sticks. Despite their individual immensely superb talent these stick men accept the inevitable ribbing that the front men instinctively level. It is the code. But the last laugh is theirs. For they know that without either one of them, the band would be just a two piece.
Acoustic singer/songwriter Andy Blair first found his musical ability while at school aged around thirteen, forming his first band at the age of fourteen ‘The Weatherkings’. To date he has enjoyed playing in various Scottish Venues such as; The Barrowlands; O2 Academy, Usher Hall, Caird Hall, King Tuts, Liquid Rooms & The Royal Lyceum many more. His passion for writing music is enhanced by playing to a live audience and adds to his enjoyment and desire to write more material and enhance his musical flair. After 'The Weatherkings' finished he began writing solo material and joined the popular band ‘Superhouse’.
